About Us
Experiential Healing Center ("EHC") was founded in 1996 by Kent Fisher and Michelle Rappaport in Memphis, TN with a mission to help individuals find repair and harmony in their lives. EHC operates under the belief that everyone is doing the best they can with the knowledge they have until they learn something different. From its inception, EHC has been at the forefront of integrating experiential and somatic therapies. Kent and Michelle initially focused on experiential methods and later incorporated somatic therapies, which has significantly transformed the field of psychtherapy. This integration led to the development of SomEx (learn more below). Over the years, EHC has helped thousands of individuals rediscover their emotional balance and lead healthy, more fulfilling lives. We remain committed to evolving practices and providing cutting-edge therapeutic interventions to support the community!

What is SomEx?
A Somatic Experiential intervention to treat trauma and addiction.
We believe that each of us has a beautifully created, innocent and pure, authentic self. Playful and passionate, hopeful, eager to live and learn and grow, this part of us somehow gets lost. Dysfunctional families, neglect or abuse, trauma, addictions or life events somehow sever our connection to our inner self. Without this connection we feel lonely, in pain, tired, scared and confused. We don't know what to do or who to be.
SomEx is an inter-relational process between client and therapist that brings body and brain memories in to the current sensory experience. While staying emotionally regulated, vivid attunement and attention to the moment combined with somatic, empathetic, relational processes transforms the unresolved to create harmony in the nervous system. This allows individuals the opportunity to reconnect with our inner selves, to reawaken and rediscover our innate abilities to sort through and express our true feelings, face and accept the truth about ourselves and others, heal our shame, take responsibility for ourselves, heal, grow, live, strive and thrive.
